Taking a creative approach to Life
Greetings, I am accepting new clients for late morning/early afternoon openings (in office or telehealth availability). Please give me a call or use the “Contact” icon above to talk more about how I can help and see if the times I have work for you.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Art Therapist I offer a combination of Counseling, Art Therapy, and Life Coaching services. Life is not easy, and each of these approaches helps meet clients with tools to help get back on track. Art therapy is a wonderful way to express what we carry when the words are hard to place. Counseling is there for those moments when anxiety, depression or trauma clouds the day. Life Coaching is focusing on what can be added to your professional life, relationships, or personal growth that can help and heal what is missing or gone astray. Often clients describe, “Nothing really big is going on, I just don’t feel like myself.” I’m happy to talk to you more about whether counseling or coaching would be a good match and how art can be integrated into both approaches. Help is available, and there is not better time then today to make a difference for yourself. You very much matter.
Some of my favorite trainings that influence my work are Lindsay Gibson; helping adults step out of the shadows of emotionally immature parents to become their own lead in their story. Gottman has so many wonderful tools for not only couples but individuals navigating conflict in their relationships and creating deeper connections and trust. I am trained in healing from trauma and complex trauma by releasing guilt, shame, anger and making sure how we heal allows trust, connection and secure attachment in our closest relationships. Noticing how our body holds emotional pain and practicing a calmer state of being with movement like art to break out of “freeze” mode and find your voice. Emotionally detoxing after controlling or abusive relationships to decrease self doubt and reclaim self identity. Helping people pleasers stop being a chameleon but speaking up, engaging in meaningful conflict to finding solutions that include you (no more putting yourself last), and make yourself known for improved relationships.
With an integrated approach using Cognitive Behavioral, Attachment and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Strength Based Therapies we can start to explore how the way you think affects the way you feel and act. CBT has been shown to be a clinically effective approach to overcoming depression and anxiety. ACT is an excellent approach for changing communication patterns, setting boundaries, improving compassion, and connecting with valuable relationships and self worth. Art Therapy provides a nonverbal outlet for processing self-image, trauma, and grief and messages that can get bottled up or have no words. With training in Career Counseling I additionally can assist in assessing career satisfaction, align with meaningful career goals and applying skill sets to new opportunities. I graduated in 2007, started my private practice in 2011 and have been honored to work with so many lovely clients in their moments of accepting help and taking the first step (or next steps) in making positive change in their life.
